Now that the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing have come to a conclusion, American politics resumes center stage as the party conventions commence. The Democratic National Convention runs August 25-28 followed by the Republican National Convention September 1-4.

Our friends at Google have set up a one-stop shop for everything you wanted to know about the election at their 2008 U.S. Election page. You'll find links to recent news articles, on-line videos, and a special section on the conventions. This is a great resource for becoming an informed voter!

More local resources are also available. Information on registering to vote in Michigan, finding your polling place, how to use absentee ballots, even taking a look at your actual ballot before you go to vote can be found at Michigan's Web Voter Information Center. Additional non-partisan voting information including lots of information on the candidates and ballot proposals can be found at the non-profit publius.org.

The election season hits full stride as November 4th quickly approaches. We hope you find these on-line resources helpful and maybe even a little fun!

The end of summer is fast approaching and that means it's County Fair time! Time for cotton candy, Elephant ears, fresh squeezed lemonade, corn dogs, Monster Trucks, demolition derbies, all the animals on display, Grandma's award winning pies, the carny rides, the games of skill (and luck!), and the black velvet vendors!

Here's a list of the dates for Upper Peninsula County Fairs and links to Web sites where we could find them.
