The Editing Homepage:
Editing is the process of getting the piece ready for the audience. The writer is expected to attend to the surface features of writing -- mechanics, grammar, and spelling. Students must recognize that in order to communicate effectively
with an audience, writing must be free of errors that can interfere with the understanding of the message or can distract from the writing itself. Brief mini lessons in capitalization, punctuation, spelling, paragraph structure, grammar, vocabulary, and
the structure of complete sentences should be offered repeatedly.
Editing--Taking Another Look...
"Pause when you come across a well put sentence or idea in your reading.
Study it and learn from it."
-Anonymous
During this stage use correct spelling, usage, and punctuation. A good writer always proofreads his or her work.
I have proofread my work for errors in:
- Capitalization
- Punctuation
- Spelling
- Paragraph Structure
- Grammar
- Vocabulary
- Complete Sentences
I have also asked a number of my classmates to edit my work. Thank you for your ideas.
